Premiership review and Premier league football tips and bets for the 5th and 6th of March
Another profit last week in the EPL (English Premier League) kicked off with Man Utd half time – full time (7/4) and over 3.5 goals (7/4) in the Chelsea Arsenal game. I'm still feeling extremely ropey today from the after effects of a stag party in Ireland hence the late post. The party got off to a great start with much of the group having a good few Euros' on Arsenal at 5/1 (even a Chelsea Man).
I don't think much off the winnings were left on Monday morning. The day continued well with Norwich and Blackburn drawing at 5/2 and more than 3.5 goals at Tottenham QPR at (6/4). 7 from 10 actual results predicted.
Newcastle v Everton
The early game see's the surprise package Newcastle with the chance of going second. Some people had them as contenders to be relegated after Losing Barton, Carroll and Nolan but Ba has fired them up to 3rd ahead off Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal. I chose Ba for the first goal scorer against Wigan which has ended up been the only game he hasn't scored first in for 5 games, so I won't jinx him again. Everton have battled on bravely and have lost 4 out of the last five games against teams from the top six whereas Newcastle have only played Spurs and Arsenal. Although Everton lie in 16th, if they win their game in hand 3-0 they could go 8th which isn't a bad position considering who they've played.
A game that could really go either way so I'm sticking with a low score draw.
Result: Draw
Arsenal v West Brom
Arsenal along with Van Persie have been flying in the league winning the last 3 on the bounce culminating in the impressive 5-3 win at the Bridge. They also have the joint second best home record along with Chelsea and Utd so I can't see West Brom been a problem for them although they did beat Arsenal at the Emirates last season 3-2. West Brom have only managed one clean sheet in the last 20 away games and have been involved in 15 games away from home that have had more than 2.5 goals. So an impressive Arsenal win should turn up with a possible first goal from Ramsey at around 10/1.
Result: Arsenal
Aston Villa v Norwich
Villa have been a tad goal shy this season and are only averaging just over a goal a game at home, with 8 of the last 10 matches at home having less than 2.5 goals. Their certainly missing the service from Young and Downing. Norwich have had a few fine displays away from home and continue to excel expectations with a lofty 8th position. They have yet to keep a clean sheet this season but have shown great spirit in fighting back. Another low scoring game on the cards here.
Result: Draw
Blackburn v Chelsea
These two will want to both forget their respective last league games, Blackburn conceding a 94th minute to stop them getting a much needed win and Chelsea getting spanked at the bridge. Chelsea will be out of the traps quickly to try and get the three points before the international break and can't risk fallen even further behind City. The quality and urgency should overwhelm Blackburn whose morale took a severe beaten last week. Blackburn have lost 4 of their last five home games this season only winning 4-3 against an Arsenal side in sticky form. Chelsea have won 7 of the last nine at Ewood Park and should march on to an 8 from 10.
Result: Chelsea
Liverpool v Swansea
The Pool have stuttered at home drawing 3 of 5. But in the three drawn games they had enough chances to put the game to bed, Sunderland, Man Utd and more recently Norwich. Swansea have the worst away record of the Premiership with only 1 point from 15 and have conceded 14 goals in 5 away games. This all leads to a Liverpool home win, but by how many?
Result: Liverpool
Man Utd v Sunderland
The last game played at old Trafford in the league was more like the Theatre of Nightmares with Man City playing Freddy Krueger. Utd were heading to their 20th game win at home on the trot before they were pummeled 6-1 by their noisy neighbours. I expect normal service to resume with a victory over Sunderland although they won't be a push over as Utd have only won by more than one goal once in the last 6 meetings. Steve Bruce is always keen to try put one over his old gaffer. Never the less Utd should take the three points by the odd goal.
Result: Man Utd
QPR v Man City
Warnock knows all about parking the metaphorical bus and a lot of his flair players will be benched for this. Damage limitation with the possibility of nicking a point will be his mantra. Putting aside the 4-0 drubbing to Bolton at the start of the season they have only let in 2 goals at home so far in 4 games. But Man City's quality will cause them all sorts of trouble as Chelsea 9 players did. It could well be a case of how many yet again for Man City as they have averaged four goals per every away game this season, including 10 in their last 2.
Result: Man City
Wolverhampton v Wigan
Wigan have won the last 2 fixtures at Wolves and Martinez will be hoping for a hat trick of wins to get them off the bottom. They have only managed one point away from home and have lost their last seven in a row. Their main problem is scoring goals with only 6 in 10 games. Wolves form is nearly as bad but they their last two performances will have given them encouragement despite only gaining 1point in their fight back against Swansea and losing to Man City.
Result: Draw
Bolton v Stoke
Bolton are another team in shocking form and still have a number of players out injured. They've already lost 8 in 10 with their only wins coming against QPR in the first game and a dismal Wigan. They will see this as a good time to play Stoke as Stoke haven't managed to hit the net in any of their league games after an away European trip. Stoke just don't seem to have the resources to cover both tournaments. A bore draw could be the result that both teams would settle for.
Result: Draw
Fulham v Spurs
Fulham's home record in the league leaves a lot to be desired, one win in five. They should also be putting out a good side in the Europa league whereas Spurs will rest all their stars for the trip To Ruban Kazan. Add that to Spurs good away run, 3 wins and one draw in 4, plus Bale and Van de Vaart's form and you get only one outcome. A get well present for Harry.
Result: Spurs
